CANCER RULES!

June 20th to July 21st

What’s In a Name?

Calling all Moon Children! Summer fashions are here, time to shine!

Some people born under the zodiac sign of Cancer prefer to be called “Moon Children” because of the possible negative associations with the name Cancer. But in fact the word comes form the Greek “karkinos,” meaning “crab,” and every fashionista, whether preferring Cancer or Moon Child, knows that the crab is the animal that represents this sign. In fact, the symbol for Cancer consists of the two pincers of the crab!

So why a crab? Well, it goes back to ancient Greek mythology and the story of Hercules, but in modern terms, people born under this sign are known for “scuttling around” with their emotions, sometimes trying to hide inside their shells, very much in need of security and a loving home!

But Cancer is also associated with the Moon, its ruling planet (did you know that every sign is ruled by a different planet?), and the Moon also has to do with the emotions. As everyone knows, when the Moon is full, better watch out! So like any Water sign, the others are Scorpio and Pisces, Cancer has a lot to do with the emotions and feelings, and like anything else, these can be expressed positively with such wonderful Cancerian traits as loving, protective, nurturing, and sympathetic, or negatively, as in moody, overly emotional, touchy, and (yuk) – clingy!

Since the crab lives primarily in the sea, the colors associated with Cancer are ocean hues like pale blue and silver. So if this is your sign, or even if it isn’t, be in harmony with the cosmos by working these colors into your fashion wardrobe in late June and most of July. Ladies, how about a charming pastel blue floral print summer dress, or for the beach or pool, a shimmery silver bikini! And for you guys, a shiny blue and silver workout suit will dazzle at the gym!

So don’t be shy Cancer, come out of your shell and let your loving moonbeams shine!
